Digital Signage
Digital signage is supported at Oregon State University through the Yodeck platform.
Yodeck is an economical solution with support for the the distribution of images, videos, documents, and apps to displays on campus over the network via ONID access.
Yodeck also integrates with Rave, OSU's emergency alert system, for immediate distribution of emergency messages.

Interested in Installing a Digital Sign?
While not free, OSU's digital signage implementation is very affordable. Costs are per installation (device, display, etc.) and are as follows:
- Digital signage player: $95. A digital signage player is likely to last 3-5 years.
- Annual subscription: $108. The subscription will be charged to an index provided by the client.
- Commercial display: Approx. $1,000. A commercial tier display is required for long-term use. Consumer quality displays are not appropriate for this type of "always on" use.
- Network connectivity: For the sake of information security, all signage systems will be wired to the campus network. Should the client wish to install a display in a location where no network connectivity is available, the client will have to engage with OSU's Telecommunications Services to have the necessary connectivity installed. Academic Technologies can provide guidance to the exact location and make-up of the installation.
- Power connectivity: Any digital signage system will require power. Should the location chosen by the client not have a convenient power outlet, the client will have to engage with OSU's Facilities Services to have the necessary outlet installed. Academic Technologies can provide guidance to the exact location and make-up of the installation.

Frequently Asked Questions
In some cases, a department may already have a digital signage solution. A display is only one component of the new solution. If a department already has a display, Academic Technologies will evaluate it. Should it be determined that the display is viable, it can be used in place of having to purchase a new one.
OSU's digital signage solution is compatible with multiple different signage players. If a department already has a signage player, Academic Technologies will evaluate it. Should it be determined that the signage player is viable, it can be used in place of having to purchase a new one.
For the sake of network and campus security, we require a wired connection for all digital signage implementations.
Your workspace can have an unlimited number of users. There is no additional cost for each user. Costs are only based on each individual device/display.
University Relations and Marketing can provide you some guidance on content creation, but your department will be responsible for the actual creation of content and for conforming to OSU's brand guidelines.
Yodeck users have their content stored in the Yodeck cloud. Users should not use Yodeck for long term storage. Content uploaded to Yodeck cannot be downloaded back to your hard drive. You should always keep a local copy of your content.
Yodeck users all have access to the Shared OSU Media workspace where campus-wide is made available for distribution. You will find this content mixed in with content from your own workspace.
Each department determines what will appear on their displays. They will make decisions based on how relevant the content is to their audiences. Only emergency alerts are broadcast universally to all digital signs.
